Breathe Easy Jay County

Finding new ways to educate Jay County about the harmful affects of tobacco use, while giving the community the resources and means to actually achieve their tobacco cessation goals.

Reducing Youth Tobacco Rates

One of the 4 main goals of Breathe Easy Jay County is to decrease youth and young adult tobacco use rates. We partner closely with Jay County School Corporation to provide alternative to suspension programming, prevention programming in grades 6-12, cessation resources to students who may need help quitting, as well as a youth empowerment club for ages 13-18 called VOICE. We also offer resources to parents to help them Talk About Vaping with their child, so they can feel educated and empowered to speak with their teen about tobacco use. We want a happier, healthier community -- and tobacco use is one of the first steps. We know it's hard, and that's why we provide you with resources to help you along the way. Click here for a full list of tobacco cessation resources for you or your child.

Meet your Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Project Coordinator for Jay County:

Hello, everyone! I am Grace Christman, and I started as the Tobacco Prevention Coordinator here at the Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition in October of 2021. I am extremely passionate about health equity, prevention, and recovery, and want to help everyone to be the best and healthiest version of themselves!

I graduated in December of 2021 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration Health Care Management from Indiana University Kokomo. Because of the knowledge I gained there, and my coursework in harm reduction, addiction studies, and public law and policy, I can better serve you and provide the community with resources and education about tobacco use and cessation. I am also here to provide support to those who are currently quitting, or are thinking about quitting tobacco products!

If you have any tobacco-related questions, please contact me! I would love to chat and see what services I can provide for you.
